yoga therapy with amanda owen
What is yoga therapy?
Yoga therapy is a personalised yoga practice to treat illness and build wellness.
Yoga therapy tailors the tools of yoga to the
individual. It targets specific health issues
and brings a new level of physical, mental and emotional health.
Who can do yoga therapy?
You don’t need to be flexible or to have yoga experience;
all you need is a little bit of practice every day.
You might have an illness or condition
or you might want to improve your general health.
People suffering from
Who can yoga therapy help?
One to one sessions
what to expect
.... back pain, asthma, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, joint pain, chronic fatigue, thyroid issues, hernia, Parkinsons, cancer, menopause, diabetes, pain management, emphysema, menstrual issues, frozen shoulder, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia, osteoporosis
and countless other conditions.
During the first session I will observe and listen, to understand you and your aims. I will create a unique yoga practice for you, taking into account your particular needs, capabilities and energy. Together we will go through this practice so you understand it. I will write it out for you to take away and practise.
Follow-up sessions - we will adjust, refine and modify the practice as is required.
I can see you in your home/office or in my studio in Cottles Bridge, forty minutes drive or train ride, north east of Melbourne.
Senior yoga teacher and yoga therapist
I started practising yoga 27 years ago as a remedy for a bad back and have not stopped practising, learning and training since then, qualifying as a yoga teacher in 2004. In 2009, I became a certified yoga therapist and obtained a post graduate diploma qualification in yoga therapy. After working as a yoga teacher and therapist in London over the past 13 years, I arrived in Melbourne at the beginning of 2018.
I am particularly interested in yoga for mental health and worked for the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, teaching specialist yoga therapy classes for people living with complex depression, anxiety and trauma. In London I was a volunteer yoga teacher for refugees and survivors of torture.

"As a long term sufferer of panic and anxiety I have learnt that through yoga I can become much more at ease with my body and breath.
